Chess is beautiful - unless you play the London.
My name is Simon and this past year, I've had the chance to play for our over-the-board team and to organize games in the online league. Playing a 'classical' game against a family member is probably how most of us got into chess and anybody who didn't yet get to represent King's in one of the leagues should give it a try next year!
As VP, I'd love to work with the other committee members, especially the President, to ensure that everything from weekly meetings to special events like tournaments against other unis runs smoothly. With so many people joining the club, it's important to make sure players of every level can have fun and learn something. That's why I would love to continue to have some of our strong players share tips and tricks on certain openings or the endgame at our weekly meetings. I would also try my best to invite a grandmaster to the club and organize a simul. Hope to see (and play :D) you guys one last time this year at the pizza party!
