Grace NICHOLLS

Hello netballers, I’m Grace going into my 3rd year of European Politics. I joined KCL netball in my 2nd year and have played for the 1s this season (mostly scoring). This year for the club I have been Tour sec (basically a travel agent) and been very busy booking many Ryanair flights for the upcoming tour! I am, as cringe to say a pretty organised person and sometimes a control freak but along with my hostel and flight booking skills, I believe that I’ve got what it takes to be President for KCL Netball. KCL netball has been such a welcoming club over the past year and I really want this atmosphere to continue. I would work alongside VP (vote for Eva, a duo that will obviously never be able to compete with Asia and Claudia) to create the same welcoming and friendly club for another year running.

My goals for the upcoming season

  • Pre-season trials: In order to pick the teams at trials and keep it fair, a group of non-biased netballers will be there. As the season progresses teams often change so, as usual, the teams will be fluid to ensure that no one slipped the net or anyone progressing in their netty skills gets to play on a team that matches their ability. This will ensure that we’re all kept on our toes and keep up to our KCL standards
  • Training: To make sure were getting the most of our training sessions I will listen to any suggestions and requests on how we can improve our sessions. One change could be moving team training to a Tuesday, as we all know were not in our prime after a Wednesday night. Coaches will be chosen to best suit the teams. Will be expecting to see everyone there as UCL and GKT need to humbled this year.
  • Matches: There of course will be matches for everyone, and I will aim to organise a few friendlies for the recs and interclub match play.
  • Onto the fun stuff - Socials: Obvs we’re all for a bit of netball but we all love a Wednesday night, I will work with the social secs to bring you the best sports night possible!! Also, will make sure we find a replacement travel agent for summer tour to finish off the season right.
  • COMMS: I will make sure we have regular committee meetings to make sure everything in the club is going smoothly, as well as spreading awareness of the BUCS and SU regs throughout the club.
  • Most importantly, I want to make sure that the club is a safe space and make sure every member is doing well in their uni lives. As we all know being a student in London can sometimes be difficult. To make sure that the club is as supportive as possible I will make sure that every member is aware and can reach out to our wellbeing sec, and that committee members are around to support the club members. There will also be a (anonymous) suggestion and complaint form for everyone to voice any feedback for the club.
