Hi I’m Varunika Elangovan and I’m a second year medic at King’s !
Since undertaking work experience at a GP surgery during year 12 whilst applying to medical school, I have always been interested in general practice as a career. This interest was further fuelled this year during my GP placements, every week. General Practice I have come to see is an integral part of the NHS and I'm deeply interested in learning more about the career. I believe being part of your committee would be a great oppurtunity for me to further my learning on general practice but to also use this oppurtunity to spread my learning to other students who are equally as interested and perhaps to get more students interested as well.
This is one of the mains reasons I would love to be part of your committee !
I feel I would be a valuable and useful addition to the committee as I am an enthusiastic and hardworking individual who works best in a team. The role in committee I am interested in is events officer, as out of all the roles I felt events officer was the role I was best suited to, as I have had a lot of experience in the past organising events.
This year I had the amazing opportunity to be part of KCL Tamil Societies committee, acting as their Head of Events. Through this role, this past year I have organised multiple large events (such as KCL Tamil Society Take me Out, Movie Nights, Tamil heritage events) and subsequently have gained many useful attributes. I’m able to communicate effectively in a team, I can work efficiently and I have good organisation skills. I was able to juggle this role as head of events alongside my studies and other extracurricular activities I take part in (such as GKT netball, taking part in a dance show:Mega Maalai), efficiently.
I think these attributes I possess would make me a great candidate for the role, and if chosen for the role I can assure you I will make every effort to carry it out to the best of my ability.
