Candidate for the position of Asian Medical Students Association (AMSA) - Exchange (AMSEP) Officer

Danielle Gan

Hello, I’m Danielle! I’m from KCL and I’m applying for the role of AMSEP officer.

It’s refreshing how AMSA promotes cross-cultural learning through AMSEP. Delegates have the opportunity to attend a hybrid of clinical and non-clinical activities - this is something I would love to play a part in. Being the marketing officer for Surgical Society, I took part in organising and managing our conference. This required good communication and resource management skills across the various subcommittees, and I was able to learn first-hand from the conference’s successes and things to improve on. These are lessons I will bring into my role when working with my partner in liaising with other AMSA chapters.

As AMSEP officer, I will continue to deliver exciting exchange programmes this coming year. On top of that, I want to introduce a pen pal scheme between AMSA UK and the chapter we are exchanging with. Getting to know a member of our partner chapter outside the exchange period facilitates bonding and would boost engagement for the event. Hosting an AMSEP information session would also be one of my priorities for increasing participation.

To me, AMSA is a family where I see familiar faces at every event. I hope to continue to emulate this quality that makes AMSA so special, and also extend this welcome to our peers in other chapters. It would be my honour to give back to this society that has given me such great memories. Please vote me for AMSEP officer, thank you!
