Candidate for the position of KCL PRASS (Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Society) - Events Officer

Nishka Patel

I believe that I would be a great addition to KCL PRASS as an events officer, as I have both the personal qualities and the experience for the role.

I have been part of KCL Psychodermatology society where I have held two successful events in aid of the British Skin Foundation for Battle of the Dermatology Societies. One event was a raffle, which required me to source and email lots of different companies asking for any prizes they may be able to donate. I managed to get companies such as GeekyMedics, Zero to Finals, Lecturio, OSCE Bank and Kenhub to donate great prizes (such as year-long subscriptions to their platform/books). I had to liaise with KCLSU and with different members of the team, requiring good communication and organisational skills, to ensure the smooth running of the event.

Additionally, as events manager of Make a Smile (MaS) Kings, I have organised volunteering events at Kings College Hospital. I had to liaise with; the head of volunteering at KCH, the head paediatric ED nurse regarding logistics, committee members, and volunteers for their preferred volunteering day. I have also organised regular monthly events for MaS with a charity called KEEN.

Having also been part of KCL PRASS subcommittee, I have seen how friendly and motivated everyone is and how well members of the team work together, and I would love to be a part of a like-minded team like this. I am passionate about Plastics, being especially interested Oncoplastics (which KCL PRASS first exposed me to in my first year of Medicine!).

I can't wait to be part of KCL PRASS and I hope to bring some more exciting events next year!
