Jana Zaki

My name is Jana Zaki, I'm a first year biomedical science student and I am pleased to say I am running for the position of Events Lead for 2022/23.

Since the beginning of this year, I've attended nearly every Arabsoc event and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. I've seen first hand, how the current committee run and organize events and this has inspired me to want to have a role in this next year. As an attendee, I know where things went well and where things could've been improved, and as Events Lead, I hope to work on this and ensure every event is a success.

I believe I have the neccessary skills needed for this role. This role requires good leadership and communication skills as well as being able to delegate tasks when needed. From experience, I've aquired these skills, whilst leading and organising two Ramadan iftar drives, as well as currently organising a charity henna event due to take place on the 30th with Reformation society. I hope to continue developing these skills as VP of Reformation next year, working closely with the president.

As Events Lead, I hope to carry out enjoyable events consistently, highlighting and showcasing Arab culture in as much of them as possible. I aim to create more of a community by organising more inter-uni events and work closely with Reformation to bring about more charity. I will work closely with the Events officers to ensure smooth running of events and a successful upcoming year for Arabsoc.

I strongly believe I have the qualities and mindset needed to take on this role, and I strongly look forward to it.
