Organising events to provide a theoretical and practical understanding of diplomacy, catering to a diversity of interests
Hello! My name is Hafsah and I'm a first year studying International Relations. Despite only having lived in London, my interest in diplomacy stemmed from my travels abroad. From volunteering in a refugee camp in Nablus to visiting the Srebrenica Memorial and Cemetery, I recognised the vitality of diplomacy in ensuring that individual rights are delivered. Thus my particular focus is how diplomacy can fulfill human rights, rather than limit them.
If elected, my focus would be to facilitate opportunities for members to connect with key diplomatic figures, in order to gain the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge of the field. My aim is to organise events that would allow members to learn and practice the skills needed to build a career in diplomacy, providing the space to ask questions to gain an insight into diplomacy. Additionally, ensuring the continuation of embassy visits is of the upmost importance, assisting members in gaining an understanding of the day to day functionings of embassies. Finally, I promise to arrange events catering to the diversity of interests and passions, as the inclusion of all is what I believe diplomacy is about.
My previous experience in events coordination and representative roles have provided me with the organisational and communication skills required for this role. From performing tasks such as room bookings, to the logistical behind the scenes, I feel that I would be an ideal candidate for the role. I am a firm believer in team efforts achieving the best results, and if succesful I believe that I would bring enthusiasm and a positive attitude to the team.
Thank you for reading my manifesto and I hope I have your vote!
