Aanya Gupta

My name is Aanya Gupta, currently studying Accounting and Finance, and I’m running for VP Events for the India Society elections. The Indian Society is a safe place for a lot of students at KCL, me personally being one of them. Given my outgoing nature, I will ensure that everyone’s voice and opinions are heard and will always be open to new ideas that cater to everyone’s needs. I hope to create the most memorable year for India Society and its Members and truly provide a home away from home.

Events we will organize:

  • Fresher’s week bar crawl
  • King’s Cricket Cup (King’s premier league)
  • Game nights with dumb charades and antakshri
  • Bollywood movie nights
  • Bar socials every fortnight
  • Yoga workshops at Tabard Gardens
  • KCL India Society’s own podcast, “Chai pe Charcha”
  • Indian poker (Teen Patti) with Sufi nights to give a break from the Raita playlist
  • Karaoke nights
  • Comedy/ Open mic nights

Aims:

  • Introduce a larger variety of events related to sports, art, and culture
  • Propagate a deeper sense of inclusivity at King’s through more socials and gatherings
  • Emphasize and celebrate Indian traditional festivals and spread India’s diverse culture
  • Collaborate with other societies such as the Cricket, Bollywood Dance, Yoga, Hindu, and Pakistan Society

My Experience:

  • KCL India Society Ambassador in First-year
  • India Society Events Subcommittee member
  • Deputy Head girl in school
  • Head of events and cultural affairs in school
  • Founder of NGO, “Smiles to Spread”
  • Head of events for EISJMUN
  • School council member from 2015-2021
