Hey Guys, I'm Tom and you'll probably recognise me from the hikes this year. I love the hiking society and the huge variety of people that it regularly brings together. I believe that as a Trip Secretary I can bring some fresh ideas to improve the experience of members. To this end I have three main points that I'd like to put forward.
- Have more regular hikes that are planned further in advance. I understand that the current committee all have significant deadline pressures, especially towards the end of term. I'd endeavor to organise hikes a week in advance to make it easier for members to plan their attendence.
- Set up a list of past hikes and interesting routes. Not everyone can make the scheduled hikes, or you might just want to escape London for a day on a weekend where the society is not meeting. I'd propose posting some past routes to make hiking outwith the society more accessible.
- Finally, I'd do everything in my power to organise a Scotland trip (KCLSU willing). You've probably heard me mention once or twice how good it'd be to get the society up there. A flagship society trip would be an excellent opportunity to get to know more people, enjoy the outdoors, and experience the UK outside of the Southeast.
