The Official King’s College London Women’s Football Club
KCL Women's Football Club is one of the best and most vibrant societies at King’s! If you love football or just looking for a fun, supportive community to join, you’ve come to the right place. Our club is all about football, fun and family, and we’re excited to welcome players of all skill levels and from every course.
Football
1s TEAM: Our most competitive squad brings together players with strong footballing backgrounds, always pushing their limits to succeed on the pitch. Last year, they proudly lifted the Macadam trophy against GKT Women’s Football and reached the final of Les Parisiennes tournament in Paris, an unforgettable team experience. This season, under the leadership of Avaa and Marina, the team is ready to be unstoppable! But it’s not all about intensity: win or lose on a Wednesday afternoon, you’ll find them celebrating together at our weekly Sports Nights. The first team is made up of semi-professionals, experienced amateurs, and players with natural footballistic talent, all united by their passion for the game.
2s TEAM: The 2s are often described as the best of both worlds: on the pitch, they lock in and compete with the same intensity as the 1s, but off it, they’re the goofiest bunch you’ll ever meet, sometimes you’ll wonder if they even remember they’re here to play football. They put more effort into they pre-match warm-up playlist than in their trainings, have questionable celebrations, but somehow have 100% attendance to both matches and social activities? (It's all a question of balance I guess). This year, under the leadership of Maya and Sofia, the team is set to reach new heights. After finishing an impressive 2nd in both their leagues last season, they’re determined to go one better and claim the top spot. The 2s are the perfect fit for intermediate players: competitive, ambitious, but always up for a laugh.
3rd TEAM: New to football? Haven’t played in years? Or just looking for a sports club that’s all about good vibes? The 3s are the place to be. This team will make you feel right at home from day one. The 3s are mainly for beginners and people looking to play regularly and improve their skills, but don’t be fooled, their Sunday League energy is so strong that they’re stepping up into the Wednesday BUCS league this year once again! With Ana and Isa leading the way, you can expect a team that brings the party everywhere they go, whether it’s in warm-ups, training, or socials. If you want to play matches, attend fun trainings and improve your football ability this team is perfect. But be warned… the 3s have a sneaky habit of making people fall in love with football (and with KCLWFC in particular). Before you know it, you’ll be turning up to every match and every social.
Recs: A new opportunity!! This year we are delighted to offer recreational football for the first time and if you're looking to play casually in a welcoming and friendly environment, the recs will be perfect for you. Regardless of ability, recs offers the chance to play low commitment football and to meet new people. Under our recs leads Zaynab and Lena, players of all abilities and experience levels will have the chance to play together once a week. And if you fall in love with it and decide to take your football career to the next level? We're offering the chance to upgrade your membership and play competitively for one of our three teams as a one off or regularly. Recs is perfect for those with other commitments or if you're just looking to play some sport and meet new people every so often! And of course- we hope to see you all at club socials and events.
Memberships for all competitive teams cost 50£ - this includes: trainings, coaches, sign-ups to competitive leagues, socials
Memberships for recs cost 30£- this includes: pitch hire, equipment and social membership
Upgrade from recs to competitive at any point throughout the year to play matches!
Trainings and Matches
All three of our teams train weekly together (with separate coaches) on Thursdays at King’s Honor Oak Park Sports Ground (SE23 1NW), starting at 7:30PM to fit around your studies.
We also play weekly games on Wednesdays (BUCS) and Sundays (LUSL) in and around London! Our home pitch where we have most of our matches is New Malden (KT3 6JB) aka Berrylands.
Recs will play once a week at Tabard Street Pitches on Tuesdays from 8-9pm.
Regardless of your football experience, you will certainly find a place here at KCLWFC. Our mission is to involve and encourage as many women as possible at King's to get involved in the sport we are all passionate about!
Socials and events
At KCLWFC, winning off the pitch is just as important. We are not just a team – we are a family and we want everyone to feel right at home to KCLWFC. Our club was named KCLSU Club of the Year 2023 and KCLSU Team of the Year 2022 for our standout performances and community spirit, as well as winning KCLSU Event of the Year for our Charity Match with Queen Mary's in support of UNHCR!
KCLWFC’s social events are legendary, with themed Sports Nights every Wednesday and big turnouts at every event. Our end-of-season tour is always a highlight – this year, over 30 of us took over Malaga! (You may see some interesting costumes on our Instagram) With Satine, Lexie and Harriet as our social secs this year, we’re definitely going to continue being one of the most social clubs at KCL. And don’t worry, drinking is never mandatory – we make sure everyone has a great time, on or off the booze.
We also attended the tournaments Les Parisiennes and Le WEFT this year, a nice occasion to do a little trip to Paris and make KCLWFC renowned world-wide. We are looking to make a return as well as enter other international tournaments as we know these are great opportunities to make memories outside of playing in the regular leagues.
Expect many club-wide dinners, team bonding nights and plenty of moments to make lifelong friends.
Watching football is also one of our favourite occupations - be ready to take part in outings to Wembley stadium to see the Lionesses play or meeting up at Dover Castle (DC) - our beloved pub we have elected as KCLWFC's home to party and watch matches!
Repping the club is also encouraged- our vice-President Rachel is already busy designing new merch for you to wear around campus so keep your eyes peeled for that!
Laila, our fitness sec will be leading many fitness initiatives this year, to encourage practicing sports on a regular basis.
Wellbeing is a priority at KCLWFC. Your mental health matters and the committee will always have your back. Our wellbeing sec, Jess, will also be leading charity initiatives this year. In the past, we have paired up with We Are Donors KCL to help boost numbers in blood donations. Last year we had also organised a pub quiz in collaboration with CoppaFeel to raise money and awareness for breast cancer.
Of course, we cannot forget our social media secs, Teagan and Bella! Expect some fantastic social media posts as we celebrate our wins, fun Tik Toks to get involved in and your memories captured on our channels.
