We're the Positive Peers -here for students, by students.

We are the Positive Peers, students trained to help our fellow students thrive through creating student-only spaces where we support and learn from each other. 

Through health promotion and support, the Positive Peers are a key component of KCLSU Wellbeing and contribute to our community's commitment to improve student mental health and wellbeing.

121 Chat with a Positive Peer

You can sign up to have a supportive one-to-one chat with a Positive Peer through our booking system.This 30-45 minute informal chat is a place for you to talk about what's on your mind. The Positive Peers are students just like you who are trained to listen. Although they're not trained professionals who will give you advice, they can signpost you to services that might be helpful for you. These conversations are confidential unless the Positive Peers are worried about the safety of others -then they have to inform their manager of their concerns.


If you'd like to get some proactive tools to help improve your wellbeing and self-care, check out our peer support group Thrive. 

Thrive is a 3-part programme designed to help explore what good wellbeing and self-care looks like for you. You’ll be given tools, questions and space to think about how you can include activities into your everyday life so that you can thrive, no matter what life throws at you.

Don't worry if you can make all sessions, you can attend as a one-off too. 

Positive Minds

If you're feeling a bit low and finding university difficult, you can attend our peer support group Positive Minds or reach out for a chat one-to-one with us. 

Positive Minds is a 4-part programme developed by Student Minds for students experiencing low mood or mild depression. More info can be found here. To join our next Positive Minds sessions, sign up using our Eventbrite page here.

Who are the Positive Peers?

We are King's students who want to improve the personal and collective wellbeing of other King’s College London students! We do this by giving evidence-based information, sharing experiences, supporting our peers and connecting each other with helpful resources. Mostly, though, we just want to create a happier, healthier community for students at King’s!

What sort of training and supervision do we have?

  • We are volunteers who are trained to listen effectively, communicate sensitively, maintain confidentiality, respect boundaries and recognise when/how to encourage referral to professional support services.
  • We receive constant support and supervision through KCLSU.
  • We each sign a volunteer agreement
