Why join GKT Netball?

If you're looking for competitive netball: our GKT 1st team are the official KCL 1s netball team. Last year we won Varsity and have won Macadam (against KCL netball 1s) for the last 10 years! With 5 competitive teams, there is lots of room to gain a place playing more competitive netball twice weekly!

Our previous season (pre-Covid) was one of the most impressive in our club’s history with our 1st team (a King's Sport Performance Team) winning a challenging South East Division 1 BUCS league and maintaining their top position in the Competitive 1 Division of their LUSL league. Additionally, they became BUCS and LUSL cup champions 2018/19 and achieved 2nd place in the National Medical School Netball league.

If you're looking for social netball: we have the largest recreational squad at KCL who welcome all abilities! There are loads of socials to be enjoyed - our Wednesday socials at the infamous Guy’s Bar (fancy dress required) and events throughout the year including Mystery Fresher Tour in November, Christmas Dinner, end of season AGM, Netball- Rugby tour and many more!

What's the difference between GKT and KCL netball?

GKT stands for Guy's, King's and St Thomas's hospitals, where historically the club was created for the medics at KCL. However, this is no longer the case and we are open to KCL students syudying ANY course. We are the larger club and have beaten KCL netball at Macadam for the last 10 years! Moreover, our courts are based more centrally (meaning less commuting for matches!)

We are a really friendly club and are very excited to welcome lots of new players for the 2022/23 season.

Included within the Rec membership is an annual Beactive membership which will not only give you access to Your activity rec sessions but also to the entire beactive timetable of over 50 classes/activities per week. For more information on the Beactive programme and to start booking sessions please visit - https://www.kcl.ac.uk/sport/clubs/beactive

GKT (Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’) refers to the heritage of Medical students at King’s. However, we welcome players studying all degrees at King's.
