Bush House 

• The Shack – Ground Floor Southeast Wing: This is a great spot if you enjoy studying in a classic café environment.  It’s more informal and social, making it a popular choice for students who prefer a bit of background noise while they work. 

• The Exchange – Ground Floor Northeast Wing : This area is a spacious spot filled with individual work booths and group study tables. If you prefer somewhere airy with loads of natural light, then this spot is perfect for you.

• The Arcade – Ground Floor South Wing: With big windows overlooking St Mary le Strand, the Arcade is for anyone who loves a bit of people-watching during their study breaks. Just note that it can be a little bit busy as people come in and out of Bush House between classes, so this spot is ideal for lighter bits of work.

King’s Building 

• Student Informal Study Area (KIN 223, KIN 224, and KIN 226) – Second Floor:  Another option for those seeking a quieter environment, this space is ideal for focused study. 
• Chapters Restaurant - Second Floor: If you prefer a more vibrant atmosphere, these areas on the second floor are perfect for both lunch and a group study if you don’t mind a bit of chatter while you work. There is more seating upstairs and even soundproof booths if you need to attend an online meeting. 

Maughan Library 

The Maughan Library, located on Chancery Lane, is one of the most iconic libraries at King’s and offers a variety of study spaces. The Round Reading Room is a completely silent zone, ideal for a distraction free study session. Head to the undergraduate and postgraduate towers or the mezzanine floors for a quiet zone that allows brief whispers and snacks. Don’t forget to bring your own lunch, as microwaves are provided at Roll’s café. The Maughan Library may be big and intimidating at first, but with enough exploring you’ll soon have your own go-to spot to gatekeep.

Off Campus: 

Redemption Roasters 

Located in Convent Garden and a quick 7-minute walk from Bush House. The ground floor features some gorgeous skylights for that natural lighting, or head to the basement level for a cozy calming environment.

Senate House 

Senate House is a library located in Bloomsbury and just a 20-minute walk from Strand. It is open to students from colleges within the University of London – so yes, that means King’s! Membership is free and the study spaces do not require booking. With walls covered from floor to ceiling with wooden bookcases, a library that feels this grand and regal can uplift even the most stressful study sessions.
