All you need to know on how we are keeping you safe in our night food and drink venues

WHAT IS YOUR COVID POLICY?

In September, the UK Government changed the guidance first released in July to nightclubs and venues such as ours, recommending the use of the NHS Covid Pass, which shows proof of vaccination, a recent negative test or natural immunity as a means of entry. We are continuing to work with the university on safety measures and requirements to ensure students safe return to campus this coming academic year.

We are excited to host events in our venues, but recognise that returning to crowded places can cause anxiety for some and we strongly encourage all students to use the NHS COVID Pass to certify Covid status for all visitors.

It’s important that everyone feels confident and safe in hosting, managing and attending events which is why we are retaining some of our Covid-19 measures and expect students to have evidence of a negative lateral flow test taken within 48 hours prior to the event. Although this is not mandatory, we ask students to be ready to show this evidence when requested.

We also encourage everyone to test again following any event they attend.

We all need to play our part in keeping campus safe, and we believe that following these guidelines together is the safest way of opening our venues safely. We will continue to monitor the situation will update you with any new guidelines if COVID-19 cases rise or UK government policy changes.

Whilst this information is correct at this time we strongly recommend checking the criteria for attending events prior to the event taking place to check that any requirements for access have not changed. We reserve the right to conduct spot checks at our events. The entire responsibility for ensuring the correct covid status is provided lies with the ticket holder. We will share any updates or changes but we hold no responsibility for the appropriate proof not being provided should entry be refused.

ARE KCLSU CAFES / BARS OPEN & SAFE?

We are slowly re-opening our cafes and bars and we have carefully considered which spaces to open first, with your safety and the safety of our students who work in the spaces. Our current re-opening plans are as follows:

Guy’s Bar: 12:00- 23:00 Mon/Tues/Thu 12:00-02:00 Weds/Fri

The Shack: Monday to Friday 08:30-16:30

WILL YOU BE TESTING AT EVENTS?

No. We will not offer tests at our events. You can order free lateral flow tests from the government website, or use one of the King’s testing centres, which are available at all King’s accommodation buildings and campuses. You can show your negative test result via the NHS App or a valid text message from the NHS. If you test positive, please do not come to campus, follow the guidance for self-isolating and complete King’s self-isolation reporting form.

CAN I GET MY VACCINE AT THE EVENT?

No, We will not be offering vaccines at the event.

We encourage students to have the vaccine if eligible and recommend doing this before travelling to any of our spaces.

We have vaccination centres on our campuses so anyone unable to have a vaccine before they arrive can have their first or second dose. It is free to everyone in the UK, including international students. More information on vaccinations is available here. You can find out more about obtaining your full vaccination NHS COVID pass here.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I’M NOT VACCINATED AND/OR CAN’T SHOW MY TEST RESULTS?

To help keep all of our students and staff safe in our spaces, we are encouraging everyone attending one of our nightclub events to support us in playing our part in stopping the spread of COVID-19 within our student community. You can help keep our community safe by following guidance on campus, wearing a face covering (unless exempt), take regular tests and other measures. We reserve the right to conduct spot checks on the night. Find out more about COVID testing on campus here.
