As KCLSU officers we are deeply saddened by the passing of Professor Jason Arday. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, students, colleagues and all those affected by his passing.
Professor Arday was a pioneering educator, scholar and advocate for equality in higher education. His life and work were defined by an unwavering commitment to tackling systemic racism, challenging barriers to education and championing a more inclusive university experience for students from marginalised communities.
His achievements, including becoming one of the youngest Black professors in the UK, inspired many. More importantly, his commitment to creating opportunities for others leaves a powerful and lasting legacy across higher education. We recognise that this profound loss may be felt particularly deeply by Black students and members of our King's community. At a time of loss, people will respond and grieve in different ways. Please know that support is available to you.
Professor Arday's contribution will be remembered, and his commitment to equality, inclusion and opportunity will continue to inspire students, educators and communities across the sector.
We know that news of a loss can affect people in different ways. If you have been affected by Professor Arday's passing, you do not have to navigate this alone.
