Start Your King's Journey with a Peer Guide Meet Up
Starting university is a big milestone, and it's completely normal to feel a mix of excitement and nerves. Whether you're wondering how to meet new people, which societies to join, or simply where to begin at the Welcome Fair, our Peer Guide Meet Ups are here to help.
A Peer Guide Meet Up is a relaxed, small-group tour of the Welcome Fair led by current King's students. It's a chance to explore everything the fair has to offer, ask questions, and meet other new students who may have similar interests or experiences to you.
Our Peer Guides have all been in your shoes. They know what it's like to start university, and they're there to share their experiences, recommend their favourite societies and services, and help you feel more confident as you begin your time at King's.
Find the group that's right for you
This year, we're offering a range of Meet Ups designed to help students connect with others in a welcoming environment. You can choose from:
- Nursing Students
- Distance Learners
- Quiet Hour (suitable for neurodivergent students)
- Postgraduate Students
- General Meet Ups (open to everyone)
Each Meet Up provides the opportunity to explore the Welcome Fair at a comfortable pace while getting to know other students before the crowds become overwhelming.
Keep the connections going
Meeting people during Welcome is just the beginning. That’s why we’re also running a follow-up Meet Up after the Welcome Fair, giving you the opportunity to reconnect with the students you met on the day.
Join us for a relaxed picnic in the park, where you can continue those first conversations, meet new people, and spend time together outside of Welcome Week.
It’s a great opportunity to build on those first connections, make new friendships, and continue feeling part of the King’s community beyond Welcome.
When booking your place, we encourage you to sign up for both your Peer Guide Meet Up and our Picnic in the Park. Attending both sessions gives you the best opportunity to get to know your group, strengthen new connections, and settle into university life with a familiar network of people.
Why join a Peer Guide Meet Up?
By taking part, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Meet other new students before exploring the Welcome Fair.
- Discover societies, sports clubs, volunteering opportunities and student services.
- Ask questions in a relaxed and supportive environment.
- Receive recommendations from current students about making the most of university life.
- Build friendships that continue beyond Welcome Week through our follow-up Meet Ups.
Many students tell us that the people they meet during Welcome become some of the first friends they make at university. By joining both the Peer Guide Meet Up and our follow-up social, you'll have even more opportunities to build those connections and start your King's journey with confidence.
Book your place today and take the first step towards finding your community at King's.
