Meet Your 2026/27 Officers!
Introducing the 2026-2027 King’s College London Students’ Union (KCLSU) Officers
This year’s election drew 68,000 votes from 6706 students, making it our biggest election yet! Students really made themselves heard on who they want as their representatives and change-makers.
Your new Full-Time Officers have been onboarded and are ready to launch their own initiatives and campaigns for this academic year. Keep reading and get to know them and their manifesto pledges a little bit more!
Luqmaan Waqar: President
“Hi! I’m Luqmaan and I’ve just finished a PhD in Psychology from the IoPPN!”
My key aims for this year are:
- Implementing institutional change to make mental health a priority
- Bridging the gap between undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Helping the Union fight for students’ economic dignity and security, from housing to fair pay
- Ensuring that KCL’s investments are not complicit in destruction by updating investment policies and portfolios
- Hold KCL responsible for delivering on their promise to support higher education in Gaza.
- Increasing the volume of study spaces across all campuses
My favourite memory at King’s so far:
Successfully defending my PhD thesis. One of my examiners was literally the Michael Jordon of the field, so it was gratifying to get their seal of approval.
My London lifehack:
Pret’s 99p Filter Coffee or a £1 Soho's Algerian Coffee Store. UK coffee markups are extortionate compared to the rest of Europe, but these two spots are holding the fort of sane caffeine consumerism.
Hamza Malik: VP Activities & Development
“Hi Guys! I’m Hamza and I’ve just completed my 4th year in Electronic Engineering at King’s.”
My key aims for this year are:
- Improving clarity of KCLSU processes and communication with KCLSU staff for student groups
- Uplifting athletic talent by introducing awards, longer competitions and more financial help
- Create renewed interest in societies through mid-year re-fresher events and ratification processes
My favourite memory at King’s so far:
Sight-seeing around Central London late at night after training during Ramadan, the London skyline and all the lights look breathtaking at that time.
My London lifehack:
If you want to explore the city and not worry too much about travel costs, a student oyster with a monthly travel card allows you to do whatever, whenever!
Harrison Lee: VP Education (Health)
“Hi I’m Harrison, and I’ve just finished my 2nd year in Neuroscience and am currently interning at the Sleep and Brain Plasticity Centre”
My key aims for this year are:
- Lobbying to end the placement year tax
- Push for accommodation application windows to not clash with exam periods.
- Introduce career fairs to campuses beyond Strand
- Sustain relationships with industry partners
- Create a formal tutor network amongst students so students can gain course-specific advice
- Lobby for road-restrictions and road safety measures across all campuses
My favourite memory at King’s so far:
I had the best year staying at Wolfson House, a King’s accommodation. There, I was fortunate to meet so many wonderful people and had many nights of good conversations.
My London lifehack:
Cycling is the best way to travel in London. It is often the quickest means to commute and good way to appreciate the London skyline while cycling along the River Thames.
Adithi Sathiyan: VP Welfare & Community
“Hi! I’m Adithi and I’m entering my final year studying International Relations.”
My key aims for this year are:
- Introducing a reimbursement scheme and travel fund for exams at Excel
- International student voice forums and more ethical career policies
- Ensuring free period products are always stocked
- Hosting more community events inclusive of students of all cultures alongside commuters and online learners
- Reducing wait times for mental health services and mitigating circumstance guidance
My favourite memory at King’s so far:
Attending a speech by former French President Francois Hollande, as organised by my home department War Studies - it was very inspiring and more importantly, a true test of my French knowledge after my A-Level!
My London life-hack:
You can walk pretty much anywhere! You just need a good pair of (waterproof) trainers, an umbrella, and an unbreakable determination! I once walked from Elephant & Castle to Greenwich and back (35,000 steps overall so nothing is impossible!)
Zeina Eweiss: VP Postgraduate

“Hi King’s! My name is Zeina Eweiss, and have just completed my Masters of Law at King’s.”
My key aims for this year are:
- Improving accessibility and support for students with disabilities, removing the need for excessive evidence
- Establishing improved timetabling for postgraduate students to help integration with the rest of the student body
- Increasing study spaces by making use of empty classrooms
- Clarifying AI policies and introducing AI literacy workshops
My favourite memory at King’s so far:
Favourite memory at King’s is going to the SJP Culture Night! It was lovely seeing everyone dress up in their cultural clothes and the stalls/entertainment were well organised and so much fun!
My London lifehack:
Mine is to walk everywhere. Even if something seems 40 minutes away, you’d probably manage to get there much faster than that, plus you save money, get your steps in, and get to appreciate London views!
Mahdi Ahmad: VP Education (Arts and Sciences)
“Hi! My name is Mahdi Ahmad and I’ve just finished my third year studying History and Political Economy.”
My key aims for this year are:
- Creating more informal and accessible learning spaces
- Ensuring support is given to students affected by global crises, especially for Palestinian students
- Improving MCF processes and pushing for more evenly spread exam timetables
- Creating systems so students are able to balance religious commitments with academic work more fairly
My favourite memory at King’s:
Being part of the first encampment and seeing so much solidarity for the Palestinian people.
My London lifehack:
Not to travel at peak times on the tube AND to get a lime bike membership to travel around central with more ease!
