All We Need

A cream background with a black circle containing the words 'All We Need' and a cartoon hand holding up four fingers.

All we need is enough to cover the basic costs of student life.

We are a student-led campaign pushing for better financial support in response to the cost-of-living crisis.

We will bring together students at King's and nationally to call on the government and University management to recognise the difficult situation that students are in and put in place emergency measures and long-term structural change to increase the financial resources available to students.

Campaign Asks

From national government, we are calling for:
  • Increase maintenance loans in line with inflation.
  • Hardship funding for students.
  • Place a cap on international and postgraduate student University fees.
  • Rent controls.
  • To reduce tuition fees for all students, both home and international, by 30% - without deteriorating employment conditions at Universities.
  • To abolish interest-based tuition fee loans in the UK.

From King’s University management, we are calling for:
  • Enable self-funding students to pay in four instalments.
  • Reduce rent on King’s residences by 20%.
  • Lower the price of food on campus.
  • Increase hardship funding & King’s Living Bursary – ringfenced hardship funding for international students.
  • Reimburse the costs of acquiring medical evidence for students when required for mitigating circumstances or appeals.
  • Provide free sanitary products outside all toilets on campus.

Campaign Progress

We have been working hard to lobby King's for our University level asks, and we are pleased to say that King's has announced a £3million package of support for students, which is going towards additional support for those in receipt of the King's Living Bursary, additional hardship funding, and cheaper food options on campus.

In another huge win for the campaign, King's has committed to providing free period products on all campuses.

KCLSU has also introduced cheaper food options in our catering venues.
