Kings of King's

Kings of King's

Kings of King's is a new project aimed at children who are care experienced or care-leavers within four boroughs (Lewisham, Croydon, Southwark and Lambeth). Students who are in year 7-9 will be invited onto the King's campus to take part in one of three strands of the program. Each strand will aim to raise aspirations and help students make decisions about GCSEs, A-Levels and University. If you are a Virtual School who is interested in this programme please contact us today (outreach@kclsu.org.

Strand 1 - Culture

Culture will be an amazing opportunity for students to experience a series of workshops around the subject of culture and explore what being part of a university is like. Students will work side by side with our plethora of student groups who will deliver 4 workshops over the course of 2 days helping students with a culture related task. With groups representing everything from chess to breakdancing this will be a unique opportunity for students to experience the range of groups and activities that await them in the future.

Strand 2 - Sport

Do you think your students are the next Serena Williams or Christian Ronaldo - or do they just have a love of sports? This could be the strand for them as they will get to experience how sports can add to and improve their future university experiences. Whilst working within this strand they will get to meet up and try out a range of sports with some of our various sports clubs. We have everything from American Football to Lacrosse.

Strand 3 - Media

The world is ever changing and technology and media are fast becoming the norm. The Media strand is there to explore different mediums such as radio and journalistic writing (for newspaper or magazines). If students choose to get involved with this strand they will get to experience industry-standard studios and production suites where they will get a chance to take part in producing something which will be showcased at the final celebration event. This strand is collaborative with the sports strand so we advise students to pick one strand they are interested in.

The Strands

Each strand will have two sessions and will be held over half term. Lunch will be provided at the events and students will be invited back to a celebration ceremony on campus to showcase what they have learnt, recieve their certificates and have a small celebration ceremony with their carers. We advise students to select one strand that they are most interested in as content may be repeated in sessions.
