This campaign was set out in our officers manifesto and is therefore an automatically supported campaign. For more information on our campaigns process please see our playbook.
Campaign Update
The campaign was launched in 2017 by our then VP Education (Arts and Sciences) who held a weeklong series of events on topics relevant to liberating education, including the BME attainment gap, curricula, and academic staff, along with creative events to such as crafts workshops and performance nights in order to inspire and bring the community together.
This year, the Vice President of Education (Arts & Sciences) successfully held the Liberate Our Education workshop. It discussed different means of diversification and how best to internationalise the curriculum, with academics, lecturers, students and GTAs (Graduate Teaching Assistants) in attendance. The ideas discussed within the workshop will be used to shape college policy on inclusive education, as promised by the 2020 Education Strategy, and the workshop itself will hopefully act as a pilot for future initiatives aimed at enriching the syllabus.
If you would like to get involved in the conversation, please contact the VPEAS, vpeas@kclsu.org
