Bedside is a small place but can become a great playground for both the young patients and us as well
Evelina means 'gives life' in Italian. Italy is my favourite country in Europe and so is Evelina my favourite place in London. Every Saturday when I cross Westminster Bridge, the weather was peculiarly nice and clear which is very uncommon as we all know. I hope more people can taste this weirdly and remarkably rewarding experience of volunteering at Evelina.
Evelina is my refuge - the location itself as well as the time that I spend with the patients and their families in the hospital. I am more than ready to dedicate my time to make sure the volunteers, the staff members and the patients feel safe and happy. I have volunteered as an academic mentor and tutor at Jenam Residential Centre for Children for 4 years, both as a member and a leader. During school lockdowns, I have initiated a lunchbox donation campaign for the children in need who could not get their government-funded meals from school. These experiences allowed me to learn how to communicate with the team members and the coordinators at different institutions.
After all, I want to make sure every student volunteer returns home after being fully charged from Evelina. I will try my best to listen to every voice and make real changes.
