Hi my name is Niamh Mendoza and I’m applying for Wildcard Competition Captain!
My Goals
My primary goal as captain would be to foster a supportive and inclusive environment for all members of the team. I believe that a positive team culture is essential to our success, and I would work hard to create an environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
In addition to building a strong team culture, I would also focus on improving our technical abilities. I would work with each member of the team to identify their strengths and weaknesses, and train with them to help them improve. As wildcard captain, I would like to push my dancers beyond the boundaries of boy group or girl group and display a range of styles and skills in order to secure a win! I would like to create a competition piece that not only showcases our talent and skills, but one that represents us, and one that we can enjoy on stage.
My Experience
I have been dancing to Kpop since 2018, mostly doing Kpop in Public dance covers, and have competed in several competitions since. In 2019, my team won the Kpop UK National Competition. I was also fortunate enough to join Hi-Rise’s boy group competition team this year, where we won 1st place and overall winner! During this time I have developed a strong understanding of what it takes to be successful. Furthermore, having the opportunity to work with different captains has allowed me to learn from their leadership styles.
My leadership style
As captain, my leadership style would be collaborative and communicative. I believe that everyone on the team has valuable insights and ideas, and I would work to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to contribute. I would also prioritise clear and open communication, and would be available to listen to any concerns or feedback from team members.
I am committed to leading our team to success, both on and off the stage. With a focus on inclusivity and technical skills, and a leadership style that prioritizes collaboration and communication, I believe that I am the best candidate for the role of Wildcard Competition Captain.
