Candidate for the position of Boardgames and Tabletop RPG Society - Treasurer

Sanjaya Iwan Hermawan

I'll use my galaxy brain to make sure this society would not go bankrupt, Vote for Sanjaya and I'll make HSBC jealous that I didn't work in their accounting division.

My name is Sanjaya Iwan Hermawan and I am running for treasurer. I am currently a first year student in Biochemistry (very galaxy brain). I am very interested in board games, but couldn't find much friends and struggle to schedule a session. There are many cool and interesting TTRPG, TCG, or general boardgames that I have yet to try, so I want to apply as a treasurer to get the games I think the society would enjoy and have fun with the members while trying out these boardgames. As the treasurer, I aim to:

(Read my poster below for shorter explanations)

1. Save the Paints

In my first few sessions of miniature painting, I've noticed that most of the paints have dried out as well as in disarray. A citadel paint pot is almost the cost of our membership, could be more expensive if it was sourced directly from GW, so I would like to salvage what is left and save the paints that we can. We can also introduce preventive measure to increase tthe life span of paints.

I want to try and introduce a 'Paint Doctor' session and try to save our paints as well as old paints that our member have. To liquify paints we need a vortex mixer (I'll use my biochemistry perks to borrow them from the lab, hopefully), paint agitator beads, they're pretty cheap and we can bulk buy them, paint medium/thinner and dropper bottles (Reject new citadel pots, Return to spill free, dry free dropper bottles).

We can try to reorganise paints and place them on racks (I'll make sure they don't fill up our storage space). This help avoid spills furthermore provide organisation (don't need to dig through the underworld to find averland sunset anymore).

I also felt that moving to dropper bottles is more beneficial than pots, though I can make a few exceptions (Don't worry, I will not move washes to dropper bottles).

By investing some funds to save our paints, I hope to reduce the costs of procuring new paints.

2. Fantasy to Reality

When it comes to playing boardgames and TTRPGs, our imagination dictates everything. New players might feel daunted in our fantasy world as well as imagining the events happening. I want to introduce more things in the table to bring the experience closer to reality. Through the use of 3d printing (holy smokes it's free at Guy's campus) and possibly try to form more modular terrains. This idea could also bring a deeper engagement with the story for existing players.

As I said before, there is a 3d printing service in Guy's campus, available wednesday from 1 pm - 5 pm I think. I plan to use this service for us to create characters, terrains and many other models to enhance our table top experience (Time to visit Guy's for once, strand people).

To print 3d models, we need STLs, files for the 3d models and convert them to G-code that can be read by the printer. I want to start an STL library for our society and expand it to be freely accessible to all members. We can get free STLs, buy them or make them ourselves for current and future members (Come on guys and gals, we are going to make pokemon chess a reality).

If the members are interested, I think we can start investing in making modular terrains for TTRPG experiences.

3. Enter the Simulation (I want to write metaverse, but its already dead)

I think the main problem for most society is getting people to come to their events (No no, I don't want to go to Strand every Saturday), so I would like to introduce online tabletop experiences that are more accessible. We can also set up games easier and be more sustainable through using online resources.

From my knowledge, tabletop simulator seems to be the best option but it is paid. I think we can create society steam accounts with tabletop simulator for people to use or give them away for free (oh no, our funds). It is also great in saving progresses as well as cheaper than buying the game board themselves (we can try before buying).

4. And more

As a treasurer, I would explore other ways to get more board games and activities we can enjoy in the society.

Thank you for reading through my manifesto.
