Accountability in Action for a Brighter Future

Hello everyone,

I am Sibaditya Pal, a first-year BA International Relations student at KCL, and I am keen to serve in the capacity of a speaker recruiter in the International Relations Society. Having been interested in geopolitics for a number of years and a regular attendee of events hosted by the IR society, the FPS, and the Diplomacy Society, it would be an immense privilege for me to be able to contribute to the IR society at KCL and enrich the experience of its members. To that end, I put forth an eminently viable plan of action.

1. Host debates in which scholars and practitioners in the field will be invited to participate alongside students (in the style of the Oxford Union).

2. Host two sessions with prominent personalities in the field and one embassy visit per month.

3. Organise two conferences over the course of the academic year, in conjunction with the KCL Diplomacy Society and the FPS. Scholars, politicians, bureaucrats, diplomats, government and NGO officials, think tank members, political risk analysts, and recruiters will be invited to these conferences.

4. Publish a blog dedicated to the periodical coverage of the most important and consequential events in international relations and geopolitics.

5. Host socials once a month to give members the opportunity to network and provide feedback on the society, its events, and its itinerary.

Having organised events including quizzes, debates, and MUNs at school, I am convinced that I will be able to harness my experience and draw upon the advice and the feedback of my fellow members of the IR society to implement my plan of action. If you find it persuasive and are convinced that I am the most competent person for the role, please vote for me in the KCLSU election on 27 March.
