Candidate for the position of United Nations Association - Training Officer

Gabriel Alzamora

Manifesto

Hello! My name is Gabriel Alzamora Vaquer, and I am second year Liberal Arts student with a major in Politics, running for the position of Training Officer. This self-nomination is motivated by my passion to teach and my love towards MUN and everything they entail. I believe in teamwork and in the fact that having fun is essential in every part of the process, from the first training until the last speech in a conference. As well, I think that a good understanding of the procedure and being comfortable in public speaking are indispensable tools to any simulation. Because of that, I could not imagine a best place than KCLUNA, to develop all those skills while you participate in MUNs and enjoy your university experience by making new friendships and attending amazing events and socials.

KCLUNA is a place with incredible people, that made me feel very welcome, and I would love to continue with that path.

I pledge to do the following:

  • Keep the weekly training sessions. In addition, I would like to implement more icebreakers, to get to know everyone better in the society, and exercises to improve public speaking and improvisation.

  • Continue with specialised workshops’ initiatives such as the chairing workshop (led by Chiara). We could present workshops to improve position papers, amendments, or resolution writing…

  • Add orientated training sessions in order to prepare conferences such as LIMUN, MANMUN, ScotMUN, WARMUN…  Also, work closely with the Crisis Officer to organise Crisis training.

  • Approachability: I will try to always be there for anyone in the society, to answer all the questions, concerns you may have about procedure or any other matter. Also, I hope to make new friends in the process.

  • Fairness: I will try to be fair and transparent in all my decisions and towards the delegates and the committee members of the society.

  • Respect: I will not tolerate discrimination or bullying of any kind. I firmly believe that any relation must be based on mutual respect.

  • Teamwork: I will try to promote unity and create a nice atmosphere of work, as well as encouraging experienced delegates or chairs to help those on difficulties

  • Commitment: I will work very hard to try to fill my position as well as possible. I understand that my position requires a lot of time and effort, but I know that it is totally worth it. No pain, no gain!
