Vote for me as your 2023-2024 Events Director of the Commercial Awareness Society!

I’m Annabelle, a current first year English Law with German Law student, and I would love to be your Head of Events for the Commercial Awareness Society at King’s!

What I find intriguing about the Commercial Awareness society is that everybody from any degree is welcome as commercial awareness is a skill required for so many jobs in a wide range of sectors. I hope to ensure that the events in the 2023-2024 academic year continue to attract such a diverse group of students by planning events where everyone feels welcome and at ease to ask any questions they may have about the commercial world and its rapid development. My main goal is to put King’s students at ease in a corporate setting or when discussing timely commercial topics.

As Head of Events, I plan on organising events in collaboration with other societies that explore the different job sectors where commercial awareness is relevant. For example, Finance, Consulting and Law societies (to name a few) would be ideal collaborators when hosting socials, panel discussions, presentations and meetings for members to learn about the reach and relevance of being commercially aware. Continuing the fortnightly meetings on Tuesdays on current commercial topics with the committee and society members is something I will continue organising for the upcoming year.

My leadership roles in the past include being class prefect for two years of high school, captain of my Volleyball team, debate coach for a competitive team at the national and provincial level in Canada, and—as of late—subject ambassador for the Law Faculty of King’s. Through these positions, I have thoroughly developed how to plan events for many different groups of people, communicate effectively, concisely and openly, and organise my time between numerous commitments.

I understand that entering the corporate world may seem very daunting, I hope to put society members at ease through accessible and inclusive events!

Thank you,

Annabelle
