Hi everyone! I’m Yana, a second year Liberal Arts student with a major in English literature and the current Vice President of the society. I have really enjoyed being a committee member this year, liaising with new societies and being able to organise a wide range of events (including the highly anticipated end of year ball). So, I hope to continue to help the society run smoothly to ensure all our members enjoy both the academic and social sides of the society.

Aims

1. More socials with a particular focus on wellbeing, particularly during exam season.
2. Ensure the society feels more cohesive and inclusive.
3. Allow students to have a larger voice within the society

How I will achieve this

1. This year we have hosted collaborative events which have been greatly successful as it has allowed for students to meet new people and try new experiences. This is something that I would like to continue but focus on collaborating with more sports and creative societies. I believe that these socials would be very beneficial for students’ wellbeing and would like to host more of these events during exam season.
2. I would like to organise a society led Liberal Arts buddy system. The admin side of the course can seem overwhelming at first so this could help students pick their majors, modules or just answer any general queries. This would also allow for students to meet more people and get to know students in other years, thus making the society feel more inclusive.
3. We want to hear what you want! The committee is a voice for you, so we want to hear your feedback and know what events you would like to see. We would achieve this through polls and stories on our Instagram page.
