Fostering an inclusive space for singers with diverse repertoires!
I’m Lisa and I’m a second-year Neuroscience student who is running to be your Vice-President!
As I have been singing in choirs for the past 6 years, I understand the efforts that occur behind the scenes to keep one running - including concert organisation, music sourcing and more. When I came to university I was delighted to find an inclusive society when I could find others that shared my passion and enthusiasm for choir.
If I am elected as Vice-President I aim to foster the safe and creative space that the KCC provides where we can enjoy singing together. I want to support the President by helping with event organisation, planning/completing meeting agendas and checking in with other committee members. Furthermore, I will encourage our conductors to consider a variety of repertoire - from classical to modern choral music as well as SATB versions of well known pop songs! I will also advocate for more solo opportunities. Last year, I performed a movement from Mozart’s Requiem and it was an incredible experience - I hope for other members of our society to have that opportunity as well.
Last but not least I will also swear to continue the tradition of bringing biscuits to our rehearsal breaks :D
I would love to be your vice-president as we enter our next academic year and reach new heights!
