Candidate for the position of KCL Climate Action Society - Campaign Officer for Education

Anusha AHUJA

Yes we CAN!

In a time where climate change is critical to our survival as not only a population but humans as a culture, education surrounding climate change must exponentially increase. Knowledge is power and power leads to change but the small steps we can make as a university community begin with the classroom.

Having four years of experience as both a founder and in a leadership role as part of my high-school environmental group (the Global Issue Network), I have seen first hand the impact of education on constructive change. A campaign run on the eradication of single-use plastic in our school had impacts on both a local and national scale whereby the catering company, Sodexo, discontinued using all single-use plastic in all their locations in all of Belgium after seeing the impact it had in our school canteen.

As your campaign officer for education I would encourage integration of climate action into the foundations of KCL; the recent AKC series on climate change has been a great example to led by and I hope to bring awareness about this imminent global issue to KCL students everywhere. We are the population of tomorrow and if anyone has to fight this battle it has to be us, so: Yes we CAN!
