Hey! Nice to meet you - I'm Caitlyn, a 4th year medical student. I've been part of a few societies at KCL during my 5 years here, including being President of GKT Musical Theatre Society in 2021-22 and Stage 3 Representative of GP Society this present year, so I have the privilege of understanding how societies run at KCL and how important teamwork and communication are. I've always loved the idea of being a paediatrician but it was only doing my Child Health block at the start of year 4 that confirmed my passion for paediatrics. I've also followed paeds soc on instagram for years and have attended various super helpful events. I've loved seeing all the exciting things that the society has achieved over the last few years, and I had a really great time at the recent paediatric society conference. Therefore, I would count it a huge privilege to contribute to and be a part of the society committee this coming year! I'm running for this Mentorship Officer role as I think that it sounds like an exciting role, and one I'd enjoy and be good at due to the communicative and organisational aspects to the role. Mentorship is so important, and it's part of the reason I got into medicine in the first place. I've been involved in mentorship from a teaching perspective (delivering in-person OSCE teaching sessions to 3rd year students and doing Merj Academic online teaching) and through my medicine 'studygram' page @medi_cate_, whereby i've had the opportunity to mentor by answering questions and giving advice. I'd love the chance to understand the value of overseeing mentorship better, giving mentors and mentees the best experiences possible and growing in my administrative and networking skills! Thank you!
