Bringing your innovative MedTech visions into reality for a better tomorrow!

Statement:

Hi everyone, I hope you are well. My name is Jeong Hwa Hong and I am a medical student at KCL, soon heading into my fourth year. Having read the description for this position, I feel it to be a perfect fit for me due to my interest in medical technology and many years of experiences in various society group roles. I have multitude of experiences with all societal roles and understand the responsibilities needed for a president. Currently, I am the vice-president and treasurer for Med Tech Society. From this year’s experience, I fully understand how amazing events have run and have more insight into how to make an amazing experience for all next year. From my current experience as president for Students for Global Health, I have been involved in various administrative part of arranging meetings and events between people to bring about a smooth, educational experience for all. This involved reaching out and supporting all the committee members. Thus, I understand the responsibilities required for a president. Most memorable of them all was when I was giving an academic talk on ‘COVID-19 policies on European and Asian countries’ where we compared the impacts of various COVID-19 policies on different countries and how AI can enhance coordination between different countries to enable speed and accuracy. Previously, I was an events officer for MedTech UCL back when I was a UCL student in my previous degree. Most memorable was bringing events such as ‘bringing about coordinated care plan using blockchain and AI’ and ‘clashes of specialties’ where various doctors involved in MedTech provided a future view of healthcare using AI. As a result, I believe that my total years of experiences at various societies and as president, would be beneficial when connecting with the various group members and actions can be taken quickly in a joint manner due to my deep understanding of how this society works. From past interpersonal experiences, I enjoy meeting and making new connections with people from various backgrounds who have different perspectives of how they want to improve every aspect of MedTech. I believe I have the correct open mindset and fascination of learning new perspectives of MedTech innovations and through various events, it can bring about this interest for others. In addition, I have the skills needed to facilitate connections between various members of MedTech society at KCL and beyond KCL. This stems from working with other societies at KCL as well as having been part of various other societies (found in my experience section). My aim is to provide various exciting academic and social events for all years whilst supporting all the committee members. Finally, having had extensive experiences in all committee roles in various societies and MedTech society, I believe these skills can also be applied to the responsibilities needed of a president.

Overall, I want to bring all of my experiences from various societies and work with you all to bring about a wonderful and educational experience. I want to build a strong community at KCL where we can also raise various MedTech interests. Please have a look at my experiences below which demonstrates my experiences matching the responsibilities of this position.
