Hi I’m Eunji! I would like to run for KCL Oncology Society’s Clinical Officer for 2023/2024.

I am currently intercalating in ‘Cancer Frontiers’ iBSc at Imperial College London. I am highly interested in learning about the biology of cancer, the latest research developments in its treatment, and how it is being applied in clinical settings, with the ultimate goal of understanding how these advancements impact the lives of patients. And being one of the well renowned centres, alongside King’s, at the forefront of cancer research; I was able to learn a lot about cancer this year, whilst meeting some of the top speakers in the field of Oncology.

During the iBSc, I was able to undertake various clinical projects and audits; and have thus worked closely with numerous professors and clinicians within Oncology. Having experience in organising projects and building strong links with clinicians is a valuable skillset for a Clinical Officer. I am confident I will be able to organise events and activities, such as visits to hospitals and clinics, as well as liase with the appropriate contacts to continue the rewarding clinical shadowing scheme for members of the society to increase clinical exposure in Oncology.

Additionally, next year I will be going into 4th year (MBBS), thus I have already completed my Cancer and Clinical Genetics rotation in year 3. I thoroughly enjoyed this block and gained appropriate clinical exposure and met inspiring oncologists, which also puts me in good stead as a clinical officer.

My interest and commitment to Oncology, coupled with my experience of networking with researchers and clinicians within the field, makes me a strong candidate as a Clinical Officer. I would love to join the committee to continue with the highly successful schemes running in the past, as well as, introduce new ideas and schemes with different clinicians, researchers, and trusts. I would be really keen to collaborate with other universities' oncology societies (starting with ICSM oncology society, which I am already well acquainted with) and external hospitals with outstanding oncological departments. I am excited about the chance to participate in this fantastic society, and to play an active role in its expansion.
