Jonathan COLLARD

Leading the way towards a stronger genetics community at KCL!

Hi, my name is Jonathan Collard and I am excited to be running for the President of the KCL Genetics Society. As the leader of the society, I want to ensure that our members have the best experience possible while learning about genetics and genetic research.

As President of the KCL Genetics Society, I am committed to promoting and celebrating the field of genetics and the innovative work that is being done in the area. I believe that our society serves as a platform for students to come together, share experiences, perspectives and ideas, and learn from each other.

I recognize that the President plays a crucial role in leading and managing the society to achieve its goals. If elected, I will bring my experience, skills and vision to move the society forward.

As President, I will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Society's operations, providing guidance and direction for the committee members to carry out their roles successfully. This includes delegating and managing key tasks or new projects for the maintenance or improvement of society activities, chairing meetings, overseeing all committee decisions and communicating these to members, and representing the society to the wider student body, the University and external organizations.

Throughout my role, I will explore new ways that the KCL Genetics

Society could establish new contacts and increase its impact for members and for the wider community. This could include collaborations (with other societies, colleges, universities, or external charities and businesses) or events (guest lectures, workshops).

I am committed to the following priorities for the KCL Genetics Society:

  1. Encouraging active participation of members in all Society activities
  2. Fostering a sense of community and belonging among members
  3. Providing opportunities for members to learn about and experience genetics research
  4. Advocating for the interests of genetics students within the university community
  5. Collaborating with other student societies and external organizations to promote genetics research and values

To achieve these priorities, I will work closely with the committee, and ensure the smooth running of all the activities we will host next year. But that's not all! I also recognize that having fun is important, and I want to make sure that our members enjoy themselves while learning about genetics. Whether it's through social activities or collaborations with other student societies, I am committed to making the KCL Genetics Society a fun and vibrant community.

I am passionate about making a positive impact on the academic and social lives of our members and the wider community. With your support, I am confident that we can achieve great things next year, make a difference, and have the best time. Together, let us continue to promote genetics research and values, and build a strong and vibrant KCL Genetics Society.

With your support, I look forward to being President and playing an active role in our society. Thank you for taking the time to read my manifesto, I greatly appreciate it! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at jonathan.collard@kcl.ac.uk :)
