Candidate for the position of Medical Education and Research Journals Society - OSCE team rep

Safi Abdirahman

Vote Safi :)

Hi, I’m Safi and I’d like to be the MERJ OSCE Team Rep!

As OSCE Team Rep I am committed to:

  • Working with the Head of OSCE to efficiently organise and run sessions for all medical students
  • Aiding with booking rooms in the Chantler Sail centre
  • Ensure the sessions are hands-on, interactive and constructive so students can optimise this time for clinical practice and gain personalised feedback
  • Liaising with other members of the society, like the media officer to ensure that events are communicated with all appropriate year groups
  • Provide timely feedback to facilitators to help them improve their sessions based on the needs of their students.
  • Organise termly events to celebrate and award the most hard-working third, fourth- and fifth-year medical student volunteers. These events would not only recognise the contributions of volunteers, but also help foster a sense of community within the OSCE programme.

As an A-level chemistry tutor for the past three years, I have honed my teaching skills and developed a passion for educating others. In addition, my experience this year as an MSA Parent, PAL facilitator, and Teddy Bear Hospital volunteer has allowed me to strengthen my communication and organisational skills. I believe that I have the leadership skills necessary to excel as an OSCE Team Rep.

I am confident that my dedication, organisation, and enthusiasm for teaching make me an ideal candidate for the role of MERJ OSCE Team Rep and I look forward to contributing to the success of the MERJ OSCE programme!
