Candidate for the position of African Caribbean Medical Society (ACMS) - Outreach Officer

Chloe MWEBAZE

As outreach officer, I would be committed to bridge the gap between secondary school-college level students and university level students. I believe that social mobility is one of the biggest issues facing the black community today; and as a result, many high achieving black students are missing out on events that could propel their education and offer them a new perspective on studying medicine which could positively affect the trajectory of their lives. Such events were part of the reason that I committed to studying this demanding but rewarding degree - and would love to have that same affect on the upcoming generation of medics! If I were to be elected, I would take on the roles of communicating with schools in order to gain a wider reach of African-Caribbean students for our events that involve external students, as well as facilitate finding speakers who would be interested in collaborating on our events too
