Candidate for the position of King's Tech Crew - Secretary

Ying Han

My name is Ying Han and I am writing to apply for the Secretary of the King's Tech Crew Society.

Before, when I thought about a show, the first thing that came to my mind was the performances on stage; however, they could not possibly complete a show without the support of all the crew members. After being a member of KTC for a semester, I have deeply understood the importance of all the back-staging work. Here at KTC, I have learned new skills and made more friends. At first, it was the KMT fresher showcase, and then being a sound operator in Footloose and Jekyll & Hyde, also attended the socials and workshops, I found a sense of belonging throughout deeply engaged in the society. And that’s why I would like to apply for the Secretary of the society. And I believe that together with all the efforts from the committee, KTC will become better and better in the future!

Next, I would like to talk about what I will do as a secretary. Firstly, as addressed, I will be able to manage the KTC email, and actively respond to all the emails being sent, including replying, responding to questions and so on. Secondly, general administrational work such as filling out potential risk assessments and other forms, taking responsibility for the society as a whole. Moreover, I will organize regular meetings for committee members, whether on or offline, to discuss potential society activities. For example, theatre trips, specific workshops, inviting guest speakers and so on. The last workshop worked quite well, and I was thinking maybe we could do specific workshops for a particular job (sound/light/stage management…) as it would be more detailed and targeted. We could also create an anonymous form for all the members so that they could fill in their preferred activities. As a former Head of the Student Council in high school, I am quite confident with my communication and leadership skills. And as a first-year student, with less academic pressure, I am much willing to spend more time if other committee members have other priorities.

Overall, it would be such an honour for me to join the KTC committee and make the society better in the coming future! Please vote for me! Thank you!
