Candidate for the position of British Sign Language - Social Media Officer

Hi! I’m Sabrina and I am running for social media officer for BSL society.

As social media officer, I would effectively promote BSL, foster society interaction and even cast the soc’s net further, as I have plenty of experience in doing this whilst creating and running an official Instagram account for STEM activities in high school, which quickly amassed several hundred followers and was very well received with great levels of student interaction. I know how to maximise platforms to engage an audience who may be following dozens of societies/accounts, rather than just posting a story to be tapped past without actually viewing. I am also well versed in discovering interesting content which will be useful to the society.

As a medical student, it is important to me to not only pursue BSL lessons, but to keep Deaf awareness and sign language at the core of what I do. A particular passion of mine is making both BSL and the hearing world accessible to all – something I have reflected on during placements, particularly as the medical field is lacking in its inclusivity of the Deaf community.

I really hope you vote for me as I would love to play a role in the advancement and promotion of the society that I have been such a keen part of this year. If there are any doubts about my eagerness, I’m probably the one you hear getting really enthusiastic with my friends over the Kahoot quizzes in the Thursday evening sessions – names including Anita max win and Djdjdkdo have won us the top spot :)
