Hello everyone.

Being a medic I would love the opportunity in leading a team and taking responsibility over the club prior to my graduation. Being Club Captain coincides with my aspirations as well as enabling me to work more closely with all of you on a more personal level (if I don't already).

In my seven years of rowing, being a member of 4 separate clubs, I have had the privilege of learning from exceptional coaches, including World Championship gold medalist David Hosking, who overseen me personally for several years in my teens. I have gained a general understanding on how successful boat clubs are run. Since joining King's Boat Club I quickly integrated with the "culture" and soon found myself a position in M1. Last year at King's I brought home two UH wins and participated in races such as MET and Henley Royal. This year as Men's Vice Captain I raced with GKT to win the Allom Cup and will continue to race in the Summer term.

My plans for next year (Rowing-wise) is to continue persevering and win more UH events as well as place higher in more competitive events. I plan to take a summer launch driving course to assist fundraising during timekeeping and supervising crews if there is no coach available. Next year I am staying 6 minutes from the boathouse by bike. This allows me to be very involved with water training for both the men and women while frequently monitoring our boat conditions.

My plan as your CC is to ensure a smooth handover to the new committee structure by working closely with everyone to ensure fluidity and stability of the new framework. Being a medical student that is GKT eligible I will represent both KCL and GKT. I aim to liaise with other clubs on the tideway (UH, Latymer Upper) to start getting scheduled battle paddles for our novices and seniors for more competitive side-to-side practice. As our Senior Coxes are leaving. I will follow up with UH cox captains to see if exchanging coxes is still viable next year (Thank you Kadi). Exchanging coxes means more on the water training for our novice coxes and more time on the water for our Senior Crews.

I am an approachable individual that goes over and above for the club. Voting for me is choosing a trustworthy, reliable individual who can have fun and lead by example.

The KCLBC community welcomed me into King's and my uni experience wouldn't have been the same otherwise. My aim is to warmly welcome newcomers to our community encouraging a sense of belonging and support. If you have any questions dont hesititate to contact me. You can also ask any questions at the AGM. Good luck to all. Paris.benjamin@kcl.ac.uk
