Dear Members of the King's Energy Society,

My name is Ania Budimir, a second-year law student with a vision to empower and elevate women in the dynamic world of business and finance. I am running for the position of Vice President of our society, and I need your support in realising our vision to use this society as a platform that elevates and empowers women.

About Me:

My journey has been shaped by a deep-seated commitment to breaking barriers in traditionally male-dominated fields. My Spring Internships at Morgan Stanley and Lazard weren't just about acquiring skills; they provided crucial insights into the world of finance, and highlighted the need for robust mentorship and guidance, especially for women embarking on similar paths.

Observing and interacting with female leaders and mentors in these settings solidified my understanding of the barriers women face and the critical need for strong support systems. My vision for the KES is to replicate such empowering environments, fostering a community where aspiring women can thrive.

Leading a research team at King’s College London honed my leadership and analytical skills, equipping me to handle complex challenges effectively. As an elected representative on the KCLSU Funding and Ratification Committee, I gained invaluable experience in strategic decision-making and financial stewardship, vital for steering the society towards greater success.

Furthermore, I have extensive leadership experience leading various societies at KCL, which I believe make me uniquely suited to leading our society to success. At the King’s Banking & Finance Society I was the Head of Welfare & HR. I led the HR and welfare operations of a society with over 4,000 members, I was at the forefront of aligning strategic initiatives with organisational goals.

Identifying a gap in the student community for energy-related discussions and networking opportunities, I was a founding committee member of the King’s Energy Society. This initiative not only demonstrates my ability to identify and fill needs within a community but also highlights my skills in establishing and growing a new organisation from the ground up.

My Vision:

  • Enhancing Industry Engagement: I aim to leverage my network and experiences to enhance our society's engagement with industry professionals. This will involve organizing guest lectures, networking events, and panel discussions with finance professionals, providing our members with valuable insights and networking opportunities.

  • Expanding Educational Resources: Recognizing the importance of practical knowledge in finance, I propose the development of comprehensive educational resources. These resources will cover various aspects of finance and banking, from fundamental concepts to advanced topics, aiding our members in their academic and professional pursuits.

  • Fostering a Supportive Community: Building a supportive and inclusive community is at the heart of my vision. I plan to implement mentorship programs and peer-to-peer support systems to facilitate knowledge sharing and personal development among our members.

Why Vote For Me?

With my blend of academic knowledge, hands-on experience in high-level finance, and proven track record in leadership roles, I am uniquely equipped to lead and nurture the growth of our society. I am deeply committed to creating an environment that empowers every member, supporting their professional aspirations and contributing to their personal and career development. Vote for me, and together, let's build an Energy Society that stands as a beacon of inclusivity, opportunity, and growth. Together, let's build a stronger, more vibrant KES. Vote for Ania Budimir - your candidate for positive change and enduring impact.

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,
Ania Budimir
