Hej! My name is Perla and I am a first year BA History student from Sweden. 

The Nordic Society has played a big part in my university life here in London and has created such a strong sense of community. The classic Nordic events such as the ABBA night and the Christmas dinner were some of my best nights so far and where I’ve met many new friends. Being so active in the society by attending many of the events, has given me insight into how I would love to help in continuing the Nordic Society’s legacy next year. Also, I hear we need some Swedish representation in the committee! 

Having worked in various leadership roles in my high school (different clubs and I organised our graduation trip for 100+ students), and being a member of multiple societies here at King’s, I believe I have the skills, and the drive to work with the President and the committee, to make the Nordic Society’s upcoming year a truly unforgettable one. I am extremely outgoing and love to organise events, and with my eagerness, together with my lovely memories from the society, I would love to play a crucial role in the committee. 

As Vice-President, I would work very hard to foster the Nordic community by: 

• Continuing the classic Nordic events that everyone loves such as the ABBA Night and Christmas dinner. 
• Creating new traditions such as an early Midsummer celebration after exams to start off summer the right way!
• Enhancing the society’s social media presence 
• Organising more career-related events and networking opportunities such as embassy visits, a variety of stakeholders attending for everyone to gain insight into different sectors and careers.  
• Working more closely with the other London Nordic Societies for both intercollegiate socials and career events. 
• Having more frequent relaxed pub socials

I hope that my plans for next year together with my motivation and experience will convince you to vote for me! I think the society is an amazing way for Nordics to feel right at home, and for non-Nordics to fall in love with the culture and traditions, and I would love to be part of the driving force behind this. I am really looking forward to see what is in store for us next year! Tack så mycket!
