Hi! I am Maheen Siddiqui, a second year medical student! I would love to be your Secretary for Surgical Society in the year 2024 – 2025!

Goals:-

Communication: relevant and effective

  • Ensure a suitable time interval between newsletters to ensure that information is sent out regularly (but also not spamming your inbox!)
  • Keep members up to date with appropriate ongoing discussions in meetings
  • Create a safe environment receptive to feedback, transparency, accountability and open communication
  • Make documents/guides to easily navigate society aspects
  • Create a calendar or equivalent to ensure all event details are summarised and easily accessible

Understand what YOU want

  • Give students the opportunity, platform and safe environment to give feedback, raise concerns and suggest ideas, so that initiatives and events can be planned to suit your needs
  • Make sure that feedback and suggestions are taken on, sent to relevant people and acted upon
  • Keep students up to date with what is being done to act on the feedback and suggestions
  • Suggest new events (a few ideas up my sleeve….)
  • Improve existing events based on your feedback

Timely and relevant responses

  • Ensure that emails are replied to in a timely manner
  • Responding to all emails with adequate and relevant information
  • Creating an environment where students are comfortable asking questions, clarifying queries, suggesting ideas
