Join us for a free, two-hour oil painting workshop. No prior experience is needed, simply come ready to paint and explore.

Please bring a (preferably) printed photo of yourself or someone you would like to paint.

This workshop uses oil painting as a feminist, creative and embodied method. Historically, oil paint was a medium dominated by men and withheld from women artists. By reclaiming oil painting as an exploratory, reflective practice, participants are invited to engage in themes such as gendered experience and misogyny and/or HERstory - an exploration of ‘invisibilised’ women in history.

Facilitator:

Chloé Nelson is a London-based artist and facilitator whose work centres on portraiture as a space for reflection, connection and being seen. She is the founder of Painting People, a series that brings her community-rooted practice from Los Angeles to London, inviting people to slow down and encounter one another through paint. Working primarily in oil, Chloé uses the creative process as a way to explore identity, memory and lived experience. She will facilitate a two-hour reflective workshop, creating a thoughtful and grounded space in response to the themes of the session.
