⭐ King’s Public Speaking Society Welcome Event ️


Join us for a friendly, confidence‑building introduction to public speaking in a safe, supportive environment. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to improve your communication skills, this event offers icebreakers, speaking rounds, reflection activities, and a relaxed social space to meet new people across King’s.


Our welcome sessions run across multiple campuses to ensure equal access for all students. Each event includes structured speaking activities, printed starter packs, and icebreaker cards to help you settle in and connect with others. We will end our event with an optional social, where we go out to London afterwards!

16:30 — Drop‑in Welcome Period (sign‑in, meet committee, collect name tags)  

17:00 — Opening & Introduction to Society Values  

17:10 — Icebreaker Activities  

17:30 — Speaking Rounds (timed exercises using our device‑free initiative)  

18:10 — Reflection & Feedback  

18:25 — Informal Social & Q&A  

19:00 onwards — Optional Post‑Event Social  


 Who Can Attend?  

All King’s students — beginners, returning members, and anyone curious about improving their speaking confidence. Expected attendance: 40–50 students per session, with additional drop‑ins throughout the event.


 Why Attend?

This welcome event provides a supportive space for students who may feel nervous, shy, or unsure about public speaking. You’ll meet new people, practise low‑pressure speaking activities, and learn about our weekly development sessions. It’s a great way to start the year feeling confident, connected, and part of a community that champions student voice.
