WHAT IS ELSA?
The European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) is one of the most vibrant communities at King’s College London. Founded in 1981 to foster collaboration in Europe during the Cold War, ELSA has since grown to over 60,000 members, across more than 400 institutions, spanning 44 countries.
WHAT OPPORTUNITIES DO WE OFFER?
ELSA is perfect for anyone and everyone with an interest in law, no matter your degree. Being a member of ELSA at King's gives you access to a range of opportunities: locally, nationally, and internationally. For instance, you can:
- Apply for exclusive paid internships with ELSA Traineeships;
- Participate in our annual campaigns such as the Rule of Law Education Programme (ROLE) or the Annual Human Rights Campaign (AHRC);
- Speak at inter-governmental organisations like the United Nations, Council of Europe, International Criminal Court, and more;
- Attend winter or summer ELSA Law Schools, or;
- Compete in international competitions, such as the Helga Pederson Moot Court Competition.
Locally, we also organise a mixture of events and opportunities, such as socials, study visits, workshops, competitions, panels and more. In the past, we have organised seminars on Competition Law and Entertainment Law, organised tours of Parliament, and hosted a Human Rights Debate! We also aim to provide a variety of local activities and events for our members to enjoy, such as socials, study exchanges with fellow ELSA societies, workshops, competitions, seminars and more.
So join ELSA KCL this academic year! (don’t worry, you don’t have to be European to become part of our community, nor do we focus solely on EU law).

WHAT IS OUR MEMBERSHIP?
The ELSA KCL membership grants you access to all of ELSA's opportunities across our network (there is no tiered system). We strongly believes in promoting accessibility and removing barriers to professional development. For that reason, our membership is (and has historically been) just £5.
- KCL students: Standard Membership
- Non-KCL students: Associate Membership (so we can track who is an external participant)
Please note that since ELSA KCL is a KCLSU-ratified society, we cannot accept membership transfers from other ELSA societies.
