The Political Economy Society at King’s College London provides a platform for discussion, aiming to intellectually challenge students.
We host events for students from diverse academic backgrounds who have an interest in both Politics and Economics.
Our mission is to foster engaging debates, discussions, and activities on a wide range of economic, political, social, and cultural topics from around the world.
The Global Affair Square: Engage in thought-provoking discussions on current political and economic affairs, simulating real-world crises and public opinion. Competing groups will formulate and defend policy responses to global crises. Be there or be square!
Bi-Annual Grand Debates: Two landmark debates held in front of a large audience in the Oxford Union format, featuring debaters from various societies at King's.
The Political Economy Gameshow: A thrilling event where multiple societies compete in a trivia tournament. The gameshow takes place on stage, in front of a lively audience!
Research Showcases: Discover the fascinating research conducted at King's, directly from the researchers and professors at the School of Politics and Economics. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and engage with them after the event.
Interdisciplinary Collaborations: We're reaching beyond Politics and Economics, collaborating with a wide range of societies, from the creatives to the humanities, to broaden the scope and variety of our events.
Academic Workshops: In partnership with the Department of Political Economy, we’ll be offering workshops on essay writing, public speaking, and research skills.
We are relaunching our magazine, The Political Economy Review. This student-led publication operates on a continuous rolling basis, focusing primarily on socio-economic and political analysis. We feature the latest on current affairs through an unbiased lens.
We welcome writers of all experience levels, whether or not you’ve written for formal publications before! The publication is open to both King's students and students from other universities.
The Political Economy Society offers a mentorship scheme for first-year students interested in being guided by second- or third-year students. Mentors serve as the first point of contact for any questions related to university life, academic assessments, and navigating the academic experience at King's.
