Welcome to King’s College London Music Society!
We’re based on the Strand Campus and hold several large ensemble rehearsals and workshops, piano and composition masterclasses, and regular socials throughout the week. We also have a chamber music fund available to any students who wish to purchase music for their ensembles.
Un-auditioned Ensembles
Wind Orchestra is an ensemble for woodwind, brass and percussionists to work on lesser-explored challenging works from the wind repertory. The ensemble has previously performed film selections, music by Adam Gorb and music that explores the full capabilities of each instrument!
Camerata serves as a space for string players to immerse themselves in a world of music composed especially for strings. The ensemble has previously undertaken projects playing for the King’s Opera Production of Dido and Aeneas, and also Vivaldi’s Dixit Dominus alongside the Chamber Choir as well as performing concerts of string orchestra repertory.
Auditioned Ensembles
Sinfonietta is a chamber orchestra auditioned on a project basis.
The Chamber Choir is our SATB choir performing absolute choral classics, gorgeous cluster chords and maybe even some oratorio…
The Nightingale Consort is a non-directed vocal octet (SSAATTBB) for advanced singers looking for challenging repertoire both sacred and secular. Sightreading ability is highly favourable, but not a necessity! If you can prepare music well for rehearsals and sing to a high standard, please do audition!
Workshops
Piano and Composition Workshops are run as alternating, bi-weekly sessions providing a place for pianists and composers to meet and explore new aspects of music together.
