Welcome to KCL International Security!
The KCL International Security Society (KISS) is a new KCLSU student group created with the aim of exploring and understanding global security in all its forms—ranging from human rights and gender security to cyber/AI threats, environmental challenges, diplomacy, and more. We are an inclusive, multidisciplinary community that brings together students from every faculty, regardless of their academic background, alongside world-class experts, practitioners, and institutions. So anyone can join KISS!
Our mission is to create a space where students can engage critically with pressing global issues, build meaningful networks, and develop the knowledge and skills to shape a safer, fairer, and more sustainable world.
To achieve this aim, we will also publish a KCL International Security Journal (KISJ) that will bring articles from professors, academics, and of course students who want to share their view in any of the 5 core topics that our society focuses on: Human Security (i), Gender Security (ii), Economic Security (iii), Environmental Security (iv), and Cyber/AI Security (v). We will publish the journal bi-annually, so our first edition will be published on December 2025, and the second one will be published in June 2026.
If you are eager to learn about the challenges that our society face, whether environmental, economic or any other type, or whether you want to get an article published in an Academic Journal, join us!

Our plan for 25/26:
We balance academic events, socials, wellbeing events, institutional visits, and special KCLSU events, offering opportunities for both learning and community-building. Here are some of the events that we have planned for this year:
- Panelled events and talks: Hear from diplomats, academic, policy-makers and security professionals on different cutting-edge issues!
- Institutional visits: Get to visit the MI5, MI6 offices, some Think Tank offices such as the RUSI Headquarters, and even some other fun activities such as a visit to the Churchill War Rooms Museum!
- Movie nights: Join us on monthly movie nights where we will explore different perspectives on security on movies such as The Spy who fell to Earth, The imitation game, Zero Dark Thirty, Theeb, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and many others!
- Social and Wellbeing events: Join us on monthly socials and fun activities in different pubs and KCLSU spaces, where you will be able to relax, get to know new people, and also develop new skills through activities such as Scape Rooms or Muder Mystery parties! Everyone is welcome, regardless if they have purchased our membership or not.
- KISJ Journal: Get your article published! You can contribute to our journal by sending us a publication on any of the 5 core topics that our society focuses on. If you want more information on this, feel free to email us at kclinternationalsec@gmail.com.
- Special KCLSU events: Join us for special events during Black History Month, Trans Awareness Week, Disability History month, LGBTQ+ History month and Women's History month!
