Are you passionate about social issues like tackling homelesness and child poverty, promoting mental health awareness and LGBTQ+ rights, or achieving peace in the wider world? Are you studying a humanities or social science course and looking to hang out with like-minded people?
A brand-new group created this year, the Social Sciences Society is a space for students to have fun, collaborate, make change happen, and connect with one another!
Social sciences can include the study of sociology, politics, anthropology, psychology, human geography and youth and social work studies, and our society is a space for anyone who's passionate about social issues to come together and enjoy our next year at King's!
By becoming a member, you'll have access to:
- Socials and mixers where we can relax, form new friendships and make the most of being together in London! This could include quiz nights, karoake events, art and craft workshops, pub trips, comedy nights and games, and celebrations for big events throughout the year.
- Social change and activism sessions and workshops, including chances to hear from external speakers with expertise in politics and social change, peer-led activities where you can share your knowledge with others, forum discussions about issues we're passionate about, careers events and opportunities to co-produce campaigns and fundraisers together where we can campaign for change
Everyone who's committed to creating a friendly and inclusive space together is welcome, including those on the BA Social Sciences undergraduate degree, students from other social science-related degrees, and those who are just passionate about social and political issues and debates!
Your membership fee goes towards the cost of running the society and its events, and you'll have free access to all Social Sciences Society meet-ups and activities for 2025-2026. This excludes access to any larger events or end-of-year celebrations which may be ticketed to cover running costs.
Led by a committee of students passionate about the social sciences, we're all working together to create an enjoyable year of events and meet-ups that are led by you and your passions, and we hope you'll join us!
