Welcome to the AI & Philosophy Society, a student-led forum focused on contributing to the fields at the intersection of AI and Philosophy.
What Makes Us Unique?
As the new generation, we're the ones who will have to live alongside Artificial Intelligence as it becomes more and more embedded in our lives. It's already influencing every field you can think of, and whatever career you go into, AI will be there. So our aim is to make sure we're prepared to engage with how AI is being implemented into society, and to understand the fundamentals needed to tackle it.
Where we see AI already:
- Law: the moral questions raised by AI systems capable of independent decision-making.
- Politics: the extent to which regulation can keep pace with a technology that develops faster than legislation.
- Economics: the effects on labour markets and inequality as intelligence itself becomes an automatable resource.
- Art & Culture: whether AI-generated output can be considered creative, and the implications for authorship.
- History: how this period compares to previous technological transformations, and what can be learned from them.
Understanding How AI Works:
Debates: engaging thought and discussion on any dilemma in AI.
Workshops: hands-on learning with the tools in Artificial Intelligence.
Panel Discussions: engage with the expertise of researchers and practitioners working in the field.
Social Events: building community outside of purely academic discussion.
Entering the Field of AI Safety:
Fellowship: a programme for members looking to go further into AI safety, pairing them with guidance and opportunities to build real experience in the field.
Mag-Journal: open to all who want to write about and engage with ideas at the intersection of AI and Philosophy.
