Who Are We?
KCL Polish Society is dedicated to integrating and representing Polish students at KCL and beyond. We aren't limited to being just a platform for promoting Polish culture and socialising, we serves as an excellent link between the Polish community at KCL, the Polish diaspora in the UK, and anyone interested in Poland. You don't have to be Polish to join us! We welcome you to take the plunge and come along to one of our events and become part of our exciting community.
What Do We Do?
The core of our function is to organise social events and initatives for our community. We frequently organize meetings at The Vault, the Shed and other venues where you can meet fellow members and engage in activities. We have a recurring event theme of "Gossips and Grzeski", where we provide polish snacks while you meet and engage with others!
We also take the time to celebrate the smaller polish festivites. Some examples from last year are: Independence Day Quiz, Andzejki event with snacks and activities, Fat Thursday, etc.
Collaborations
We very commonly collaborate with other societies at KCL and beyond. We have had a major role in ratifying, and have been closely working with the KCL Ukranian Society on fundraising, events and more. Just in the past year, we have collaborated with:
- Ukranian Society and European Society on many social events, and helping to promote their fundraising efforts
- QMUL Polish Society on andzejki, karaoke and valentine's day social events as well as on polsoc.london
- UCL Polish Society on Fat Thursday and polsoc.london events
- KCL Diplomacy Society on an embassy visit to the Polish Embassy in the UK
Apart from social events, we also work with polish diaspora organisations, such as KODUK to deliver panels and talks from leading polish jurists and professors on current affairs in Poland. We have also participated in various Polish cultural events in London thanks to our cooperation with the Polish Social and Cultural Association in Hammersmith (POSK).
polsoc.london
We are very proud to be a member of polsoc.london, a collaboration project between the biggest polish societies in London: KCL, UCL, ICL, QMUL, LSE and City.
As a unit, we organise a suite of wonderful. We have started and kept up yearly traditions for start-of-year, end-of-year and christmas reception events. We are extremely proud to be bringing together students from all over london closer together in this way. We hope you join our events in the coming months!
Federation of Polish Student Societies
We are also proud members of the Federation of Polish Student Societies, a UK-Wide organisation that represents and integrates Polish students in the UK. Our constant work with them provides a UK-wide element to our work and mission, and we cannot wait for you to see what this collaboration will bring!
Achievements
In 2021/22, we have received the Gold Society Award by KCLSU and won the One World Food Festival at Strand!
In 2022/23 we we the main organisers of the 16th edition of the prestigious International Congress of Polish Student Societies! A huge Polish student conference attended by >600 participants, the Polish national media, and Mayor of Warsaw Rafal Trzaskowski!
Our comittees have also obtained various awards from KCLSU over the years, showing our dedicated community spirit being maintained year-on-year!
